Adele drops new single Hello, still sings about heartbreak

Adele drops new single Hello, still sings about heartbreak Adele’s new single Hello from her album 25 which is out next month, sees her still singing about heartbreak and the ex she dated in 2008, the same person who seemingly inspired the 2011 album 21.

But she says the ballad is an ode to the loved ones she is no longer in contact with since finding fame.

“A lot of stuff in my life has changed and I found myself yearning for my past, for no reason other than that it had gone and I missed elements of it,” Adele told British radio.

“It’s about everyone that I love and I miss those people. It’s not that we’ve fallen out or anything, it’s just we’ve all got our own lives going on.”

Adele said motherhood meant it took longer to release a new album. But reveals she also thought of retiring on a high after the phenomenal success of 21.

“There was a period when I thought maybe I should go out on a high - maybe people have had enough of me. I was worried no one would care, that no one would want it.”

Another reason for the delay in the latest offering was her first round of songs she did for the new album was about motherhood, but was rejected by her team in favour of singing about heartache.

“I wrote a lot of songs that didn’t make the album because they simply weren’t good enough and I didn’t believe in them myself, so my confidence was really getting knocked.

“I did pretty much write an album about being a mum, but that’s boring, so I scrapped it.

“I felt like it was never going to happen. I felt I was never going to finish this record.

“It was really quite a long process. I wanted to give up a lot because I couldn’t do it and I thought I’d run out of ideas and had lost my ability to write a song.

“I wasn’t really aware that everyone was waiting for it. I live in my own real-life bubble.”

So much so she freaked out because she thought a 30-second teaser for Hello had flopped because she thought “nobody knew it would be me.

“I don’t have Twitter (despite having 23.5m followers). I don’t have the password. So when I went on to search and put my name in, there were three tweets and I was like, ‘I’ve missed my window. It’s irrelevant’.

“My boyfriend was like, ‘Don’t worry about it, there are loads’.”

It’s no wonder she has no idea about her own Twitter account because she is famously private, and abhors the celebrity world.

“Fame is not real and I don’t want to live a fake life.

“Sometimes I have my days and my moments when I think, ‘It would be a lot easier to be on a yacht all the time’, but I don’t want to be on a yacht - I’m scared of the sea.

“I find fame quite frightening and really toxic. It’s very charming and persuasive but it doesn’t last, so why would you want to get involved in something that you will miss so much once it’s gone?”
